- An incident of theft occurred Monday on Merrymen Lane in Rush Township. A 42-year-old woman was sent a check in the amount of $3,875 with a letter, stating she’d won an International Shoppers Lotto Powerball. The victim was supposed to cash the check and return $1,875. State police indicated that this is a scam, and it’s currently under investigation.
- An incident of simple assault occurred Monday in the parking lot along state Route 550 in Halfmoon Township. Two, 17-year-old girls met to talk, and at some point, one allegedly punched the other in the face and tackled her to the ground. The accused allegedly punched the victim in the face several more times. The victim suffered a broken nose as a result of the attack. Charges of simple assault will be filed against the accused.
- Minor injuries were reported after a two-vehicle accident Tuesday at the intersection of East Locust and North Second streets in Philipsburg Borough. Raymond Maines, 70, of Madera was traveling northbound on Second Street and failed to stop at a posted sign. Shirley L. Dillon, 45, of Allport was traveling westbound on Locust Street. The two vehicles struck each other. Dillon sustained minor injuries. Maines and Dillon were wearing their seatbelts. Both vehicles sustained minor damage. Maines will be cited for stop signs and yield signs.
