Bison Roundballers Pick Up Win in St. Marys, 53-49

ST. MARYS – The Clearfield Area High School Boys basketball team broke a five game losing streak Friday night in St. Marys, winning 53-49 over the Flying Dutch.

It was the fourth win of the year for Clearfield against nine losses.

The Bison jumped out to a four point lead after the first quarter, 18-14, which would be the difference at the end of the contest.

Both teams would score 35 points over the last three periods in the back and forth struggle.

Trey Jordan had 20 points to pace the Bison, with teammates Christian Lezzer adding 14 and Jon Janocko dumping in 12.  St. Marys had one player in double figures, Caleb Bennett with 13.

The Flying Dutch hit eight three-pointers on the evening while Lezzer had three Bison treys.

Bison head coach, Forrest Campman, said after the game, “Every kid that played tonight played well for us.  It was definitely the first game that everyone contributed that got in.”

Campman also had some praise for a couple of his troops, “Janocko (Jon) had 12 points and Westen (Wyatt) had nine rebounds so it was great to see a couple of different kids contribute with big numbers.”

In junior varsity action it was Clearfield coming away with a 29-26 victory over the Flying Dutch.  Spencer Herrington led the Bison with nine points.

On Monday the Bison will travel to DuBois to play the Beavers with the JV action starting at 6 pm and the varsity to immediately follow.
