DUBOIS – Police have initiated an investigation into a pair of armed robberies that occurred this afternoon in DuBois, according to GantDaily.com news partner WJAC-TV.
An attempted, armed robbery occurred at the S&T Bank at 2:37 p.m. today along West Scribner Avenue. DuBois City police said the suspect brandished a black handgun and demanded U.S. Currency; however, he fled the bank before receiving any.
Police said the suspect is a Caucasian male who stands approximately 5 feet, 5 inches to 5 feet, 7 inches tall. He was wearing blue jeans and a dark-colored, hooded jacket with light-colored stripes down the sleeves. He was also wearing a camouflage ski mask and dark-colored gloves.
No one was injured during the robbery; the suspect was last seen on West Fir Alley heading toward High Street.
At 3:47 p.m. today, Sandy Township police were dispatched to the Cash for Gold store in the Sandy Plaza. Police said a Caucasian male who was wearing blue jeans, a dark-colored jacket and a ski mask brandished a handgun and demanded U.S. Currency.
Police said the suspect left the store with an undisclosed amount of U.S. Currency. No one was injured during the robbery; the suspect fled the store on foot.
Police have not confirmed if these armed robberies are connected. The armed robbery, which occurred Monday at the S&T Bank, is still under investigation at this time.
