Mary Kathryn (Sunderlin) Walburn, 89, a resident of Christ the King Manor in DuBois and formerly of Grampian, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013 at the manor.
Born Aug. 26, 1923 in Mahaffey, she was the daughter of Harry and Minnie (Bennett) Sunderlin. Mrs. Walburn was a homemaker and had also worked for Brockway Glass and B F Goodrich Tire Co.
She was a member of the Greenville Church of the Brethren, Grampian, was a Grampian Lions Club Lioness, and was a member of the former GFWC Grampian Woman’s Club.
On June 17, 1943 in Frankfort, KY, she wed Franklin E. Walburn, who survives along with three children, C. JoAnn Ferringer of New Bethlehem; Jack Arthur Walburn of Danville; and Thomas E. Walburn and his wife, Cheryl of Greencastle. Also surviving are six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Joseph and Clayton Sunderlin; a sister, Martha Babb; and an infant sister, Elma Sunderlin. She was the last member of her generation.
Funeral services for Mrs. Walburn will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home Inc. of Curwensville, with the Rev. Dale Rummel officiating. Burial will be in the Lakelawn Memorial Park, Reynoldsville.
Friends will be received from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. until time of services Saturday at the funeral home.
