Eleanor Rounsley Broberg, 101, of State College and formerly of Houtzdale passed on to her Heavenly Home on Friday Dec. 28, 2012.
Born July 9, 1911, she was the daughter of the late Richard W. Rounsley and Margaret Hutchison Rounsley
She graduated from Woodward Township High School in 1929 and the Indiana State Teachers College in 1932.
She began her elementary teaching career in the Woodward Township Schools on through Houtzdale, Woodward and finally the Moshannon Valley School System. She retired in 1976.
She was a lifelong member of the Houtzdale Primitive Methodist Church, the church choir and DKY Class.Â
She was also a member of the former Houtzdale Fire Ladies and past Matron of the Order of Eastern Star.
In 1938, she married Carl W. Broberg, who preceded her in death Dec. 29, 1979.
She is survived by a son Charles B Broberg and his wife, Elizabeth of State College; a granddaughter, Kimberly M. Rittenhouse and her husband, Eric of Bellefonte; and a grandson, Christopher B. Broberg and his wife, Kimberly of Stafford, VA.
Also surviving are six great-grandchildren, Hannah, Zackariah, Elijah, Aleah, and Victoriah Rittenhouse of Bellefonte and Cameron Brice and Mason James Broberg of Stafford, VA.
Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister; two brothers, James Brooks Rounsley and Richard Scott Rounsley; and a great-granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Rittenhouse.
A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. Wednesday Jan. 2, 2013 at the Birger A. Freeberg Funeral Home Inc. with the Rev. Dennis Frantz officiating.
Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Brisbin
The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until 12 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
