CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield Revitalization Corp., (CRC) has announced the winner of the “Classic Christmas” storefront decorating contest, which was held by its Design Committee.
The goal of the contest is to entice businesses to dress up downtown for the holiday season, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for the community of Clearfield.
This year, the CRC’s Design Team had two categories, retail and non-retail.
The overall retail winner is Genia’s Thacik’s Hairstyling. Genia’s Hairstyling incorporated fresh, real greens and traditional, antique decorations in front of her business.
Business owner Genia Thacik shared that one of her hobbies is antiquing, and a lot of her decorations are bought locally at Historica Plus Antiques and No Place Like Home in downtown Clearfield.
Retail-honorable mentions are Clearfield Pharmacy, Historica Plus Antiques and Clearfield Florist.
The overall non-retail winner is the Presbyterian Church. Real fresh greens and wreaths were used with bows on every door. Also, improvements to the steeple have increased the amount of light shining down on the front of the building. which has made a significant difference.
Christine Bell, the flower coordinator for the Presbyterian Church, said the wreaths benefit their youth group.
Non-retail honorable mentions are the Shaw Public Library, HR Woolridge Company/Dimeling & Schrot and Clearfield Borough.
The CRC thanks everyone who participated and decorated their storefronts early December syncing the downtown Christmas activities together.
“Together, this effort creates an attractive, welcoming downtown for the holidays,” said Main Street Manager Kellie Truman-Swales.
