Johnston wants LT Supers to Consider Hiring Manager

CLEARFIELD – At Tuesday night’s meeting, Lawrence Township Supervisor Glenn Johnston asked the board and township citizens to consider the possibilities of hiring a township manager.

“We have one-and-a-half times the budget, and they have a manager,” said Johnston. He asked citizens to attend the board meetings and to give input, as he’d only recently started thinking about it himself.

According to Johnston, he started thinking about it after an application went missing. He knew someone who planned to submit an application for the police department. When he didn’t see one, he asked; he was notified the application had been submitted.

“We want to make sure everyone has a job in this township that wants one,” said Johnston regarding the township’s inability to even consider this person due to a missing application. He said they only discovered that the application went missing after doing some research.

Johnston said he was also concerned about the missing application, as it contained private information about the applicant.

The supervisors voted to advertise the final acceptance date for applications for the police chief position. The deadline for applications is 3 p.m. Jan. 31, 2013.

The supervisors also finalized its 2013 budget. Supervisor Ed Brown was the only opposing vote.
