Clearfield Wrestling Team Sends Three to Top Hat Semis

WILLIAMSPORT — Like the past several years, the Clearfield Area High School wrestling team is opening its season at the Annual Top Hat Wrestling Tournament in Williamsport.

A trio of Bisons, all seniors, went 2-0 to advance to the semifinals of the 19-team tourney.

132-pounder Dylan Graham picked up a fall and a regular decision, while 138-pounder Christian Stone and 152-pounder Nolan Barger each notched two first period falls.

Graham and Barger are looking for their first Top Hat titles, while Stone is seeking his third crown.

After a 1-1 evening, four Bisons are looking to advance through the consolation bracket and bring home a third through eighth place medal – freshman Logan Gilbert at 106, sophomores Noah Cline at 120 and Jon Sponsler at 126, and junior Jake Verchick at 182.

Bowing out after 0-2 nights were freshman Josiah McClarren at 113, sophomore Grant Climie at 145, senior Mike Beck at 160 and sophomore Curt Mignot at heavyweight.

The second round of consolations begin at 10:00 am Saturday, followed by the semifinals at 11:00. The Parade of Champions is set for 4:30.
