CLEARFIELD COUNTY – Moderate injuries were reported in two, different single-vehicle accidents that occurred Saturday morning in Clearfield County, according to the Clearfield-based state police.
The first accident occurred at 3 a.m. on U.S. Route 322 in Lawrence Township. A vehicle operated by Cody J. Mollica, 21, of Clearfield was traveling eastbound in the left-hand lane.
The Mollica vehicle exited the roadway and traveled approximately 200 feet before striking a dumpster. Afterward the Mollica vehicle overturned and came to a rest on its passenger’s side.
Mollica and his three passengers, Maurisa M. Horner, 21, of Philipsburg; Brittany J. Barney, 23, of Curwensville; and Ryan W. Kritzer, 21, of Olanta all sustained moderate injuries. Neither Mollica nor Horner and Kritzer were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident.
The second accident occurred at 5:24 a.m. on Winburne-Munson Road in Cooper Township. A vehicle operated by Tiffany J. Lloyd, 31, of Morrisdale was traveling westbound when a deer crossed in front of her vehicle. She swerved to avoid the deer after which she struck a tree along the berm.
Lloyd sustained moderate injuries as a result of the accident. She was transported to the Clearfield Hospital for further medical evaluation. She wasn’t wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident.
State police were assisted by the Moshannon Valley emergency medical services and the Winburne Volunteer Fire Department.
