Clearfield Man Seriously Injured in Automobile Accident

A Clearfield man was taken to Altoona Regional for treatment after he attempted to flee from police and lost control of his vehicle.

According to the state police in Clearfield, a 20-year-oldwas observed traveling at a high rate of speed on state Route 153 in Boggs Township. A traffic stop attempted, and police said he fled the scene at a high rate of speed. Police said upon exiting SR 153, he continued on SR 2011, where he lost control of his vehicle. Police said the vehicle left the road and struck an embankment. The vehicle then overturned several times before coming to rest on its roof. The driver was taken to Altoona Regional for treatment, as was his 15-year-old passenger. His passenger suffered moderate injuries. Both were wearing their seatbelts.

Charges are pending on the driver for numerous traffic violations.
