CLEARFIELD – David J. McConnell, President of Clearfield Hospital, has been named vice president and chief financial officer of Penn Highlands Healthcare, the parent corporation of Clearfield Hospital, DuBois Regional Medical Center and Brookville Hospital, according to Dennis L. Merrey, chairman of Clearfield Hospital Board of Directors and Penn Highlands Healthcare Board of Directors.
Raymond A. Graeca, president and CEO of Penn Highlands, stated he is pleased to have McConnell joining him in the management of Penn Highlands.
McConnell’s transition to the parent company is expected to take place this spring. His successor as president of Clearfield Hospital is actively being pursued and will be done with the involvement of Clearfield Hospital Board of Directors.
McConnell joined Clearfield Hospital in July of 2005 as Chief Financial Officer, and was named president and CEO in October 2007. Before joining Clearfield Hospital, he was the director of finance for Altoona Regional Health System. Prior to his tenure with Altoona Regional Health System, he worked for more than 17 years at Bon Secours Holy Family Regional Health System, formerly Mercy Hospital, serving as the vice president for finance/CFO for 14 years.
During his time as president and CEO, McConnell was instrumental in spearheading significant projects for the betterment of the hospital and patient care, such as the Electronic Health Records Project, the hospitalist program and the Committed to Caring initiative. He was also a key player in bringing Clearfield Hospital and DuBois Regional Medical Center together as a linked organization, which ultimately led to the formation of Penn Highlands.
“While we are going to miss Dave’s talent and contributions as president and CEO of Clearfield Hospital, we are pleased with his advancement to the Penn Highlands’ corporate structure, where he will continue to have a positive impact on our healthcare system,” Merrey said.
