Police Report: DuBois PSP

  • An incident of harassment occurred at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Jeff Tech School in Winslow Township, Jefferson County. An 18-year-old and a 16-year-old male engaged in a disagreement, which allegedly resulted in the accused pushing the latter male to the ground and punching him. A non-traffic citation was issued to the accused.
  • No injuries were reported following a single-vehicle, alcohol-related accident at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday along Mountain Run Road in Huston Township, Clearfield County. A 33-year-old Penfield man was traveling eastbound when he apparently lost control of his vehicle while trying to avoid a deer that was crossing the roadway. His vehicle traveled off the right berm of the roadway for approximately 120 feet before striking a tree nearly head-on. Upon impact, his vehicle rotated approximately 270 degrees clockwise before coming to a final rest in the east lane. His vehicle sustained disabling damage and was removed from the scene by Bricen Towing. The man was determined to be at fault and subsequently arrested for DUI at the scene. Police were assisted by the Penfield Volunteer Fire Department and the Bennetts Valley Ambulance Service.
  • A two-vehicle accident occurred at 7:20 a.m. Tuesday along Interstate 80 between mile maker 98.6 and mile marker 98.4 in Sandy Township, Clearfield County. Carl A. McGahee Sr., 51, of Judsonia, AR was traveling westbound in the in the left lane, while a vehicle driven by George J. Faulkner, 62, of Bethel, CT was in the right lane. The vehicles sideswiped at which time the McGahee vehicle traveled off the north side of the roadway, where it impacted the guiderails twice. The Faulkner vehicle continued west on the interstate. The McGahee vehicle redirected back onto and partially across the roadway, coming to an uncontrolled final rest. The Faulkner vehicle came to a controlled final rest. McGahee was transported to the DuBois Regional Medical Center by ambulance for unknown injuries. Police were assisted at the scene by the Sandy Township Volunteer Fire Department, DuBois Emergency Medical Services and Zimmerman Towing.
  • A hit-and-run accident occurred at 7 p.m. Monday along Interstate 80 at approximately mile marker 95.1 westbound in Washington Township, Jefferson County. A vehicle was traveling in the left lane and passing another driven by Dennis J. Bonavita, 69, of Brookville, who was traveling in the right lane. The vehicle crossed the centerline and started changing lanes into the right, before its trailing unit cleared the Bonavita vehicle. The trailing unit struck the left-side mirror of the Bonavita vehicle and then swerved back into the left lane. It continued westbound on I-80 without stopping. The Bonavita vehicle came to a controlled stop along the right berm. His vehicle sustained minor damage to the left side mirror. Bonavita was wearing his seatbelt and not injured in the accident.
