Fire Destroys Hotel Punxsutawney and Smuggler’s Inn, Causes $750,000 in Damage

PUNXSUTAWNEY – An investigation is ongoing into the Saturday morning fire that caused an estimated $750,000 worth of damage to Hotel Punxsutawney and Smuggler’s Inn that’s located at 108 North Findley St., the Ridgway-based state police reported.

According to the report, the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal and the Punxsutawney Borough Police Department are investigating the origin and cause of a fire. The fire destroyed the three-story Ordinary Construction building that measured 45 feet by 150 feet.

One firefighter was treated and released for a minor injury. No other injuries were reported as a result of the fire. The building was unoccupied at the time, state police said. Kenneth and Rita Neal of Punxsutawney owned the building.
