UNIVERSITY PARK – Penn State’s Office of Student Affairs has set up a new hotline for reporting abuse. Penn State’s Sexual Assault and Relationship Violence Hotline, which was activated Monday, is run by ProtoCall, which provides service to roughly 55 colleges around the country.
“Provision of this service is an additional part of Penn State’s commitment to make sure victims and observers of victimization have access to a full spectrum of campus and community resources,” said Peggy Lorah, director of the Center for Women Students at University Park.
One phone number – 800-550-7575 (TTY 866-714-7177) – will access the hotline 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for all Penn State campuses. At University Park, the Center for Counseling and Psychological Services will work with the hotline to assist those who are in need of help. Since on-campus support services for abuse victims are limited at the campuses, this arrangement will make appropriate referrals to services available in their local communities.
