The Last Word

Jay: “Well, after crapping out last week it doesn’t get much easier this week. Not too many easy picks this time around except for Clearfield and PO. I think Curwensville and Mo Valley can win their opening playoff games. State College, the lower seed vs. DuBois, plays such a tough regular season that the playoffs get easier! No way I can pick PSU this week. Anyone else hear that their coach got fired? What’s THAT all about? I almost never get Pitt right, so I took the home team there. I think the Steelers and Patriots bounce back this week in big rivalry games.”

Dave: “Having seen both Coudy and Curwensville this season, I think the records are deceiving – I think this will be a very close game, but I think the rested Tide have an advantage. P-O should handle Chestnut Ridge, and I think DuBois is better than people think – big test this week.  As for PSU, forget the turmoil, I simply think Nebraska’s offense is good enough to win this game for them. For those burying the Steelers, had they not allowed that last drive against the Ravens, would you still pick against them this week? The Bengals have to prove to me they are the real deal.”

Dustin: “I simply cannot pick the Steelers, I can’t.  The defense let me down again, and they are not at home.  Sorry black and gold faithful, I’m not convinced this week. As for Penn State, the focus MUST be on the field.  All the happenings outside the gridiron cannot effect how this team plays.  I do feel with Nebraska coming off a loss and coming into a hostile environment, it will be hard for them to get the win.  I’m continuing to pull for my Nittany Lions.  I bleed blue and white, and that will NEVER change.”

Rusty: “I just want to say that I had every game right last week, and then they had to go and play the games – that was just ugly fellows.  I hope it can’t get any worse this week – I think I moved up a game.  Throw the records out in the high school games.  I think the Bisons and Tide will win big, but the others are a toss up.  I’m picking Nebraska to give the Nittany Lions a chance – they win when I don’t pick them.  (I’m not getting into the other mess).  Steelers need a statement win as do the Patriots and should be more focused on that outcome this week.”

Chris: “Clearfield will roll this week, setting up a showdown with talented Johnstown. On the college front, I liked coach Tom Bradley’s demeanor at the news conference on Thursday and I think the Penn State players will post an emotional win. The Steelers should bounce back from last week’s horrific showing against the Ravens.”
