Clarion Student Secures Prestigious Scholarship

Amber S. McAdoo, Clarion, an early childhood/special education major in the Clarion University Department of Special Education and Rehabilitative Sciences, has been chosen to receive the prestigious 35th Annual George O’Neill Memorial Scholarship by Pennsylvania Council for Exceptional Children.

The scholarship will be presented at the PA CEC annual conference Nov. 3 in Harrisburg. The scholarship is named after George O’Neill who was very active in PA CEC. It is awarded annually to a special education major who demonstrates exemplary involvement in special education while exhibiting unique contributions to and significant achievements on behalf of exceptional children, which have significantly promoted the education of exceptional children.

Amber is president of the Clarion University chapter of the Student Council for Exceptional Children.

This is the second time in two years that the award has been presented to a Clarion University student. Jennifer Oakes was last year’s O’Neill Scholarship recipient.
