Lady Tide Volleyball Team Back on Track

CURWENSVILLE — After a four match road streak, finishing with two losses in a row, the Curwensville Lady Tide returned home to Patton Gym Monday night to host rival Mo Valley.

The result was a 3-1 win by the scores of 25-14, 25-14, 20-25, 25-4 to up their record to 5-3 on the season.

Head coach Sandy Bailor and the Lady Tide were happy to be home for the first time in over two weeks, “It was nice to get back on our home court; it was a good start of the week. We played very well in the first two sets, but in the third set we seemed to relax a little too much and didn’t fully focus on getting the job done and Mo Valley forced us into that fourth set. I told the girls that they needed to start getting back to playing our style of game and take the fourth set and they did that.”

Lady Tide Stat Leaders:

Madison Peterman – 23 service pointts (9 Aces), 14 assists
Ricki Wells – 12 service points (6 aces), 10 digs, 3 kills
Tierra Shope – 8 service points (3 aces), 5 kills
Katrina Seaburn – 12 serive points (5 aces), 6 kills
Savannah Strickland – 13 kills, 2 blocks
Hannah Bressler – 21 digs

After seeing stats, coach Bailor added, “We were very successful at the serving line tonight, as we served 23 aces and we held our misses down. That’s a credit to the girls working hard in practice, we just need to stay consistent on the line. Katrina (Seaburn) and Savannah (Strickland) did a nice job at the net along with Tierra (Shope) and Ricki (Wells). I feel we are improving on the offensive side of the ball, but again it’s about consistency. Madison (Peterman) had a great night at the serving line and running our offense, Hannah Bressler did a nice job defensive wise with 21 digs.”

The Lady Tide can’t savor the win for long as they return to the court tonight (Tuesday) to host Johnsonburg, then turn around and play DuBois Thursday night, a team Curwensville lost to to start the season.

The Lady Tided junior varsity team swept the Damsels 25-18, 25-13 to up their record to 3-5.
