OTTO TOWNSHIP – A moblie home fire on Looker Mtn. TrailĀ in Otto Township was the result of a propane gas leak.
A state police fire marshal from the Ridgway barracks and the Otto Township Fire Department investigated the April 3 fire. According to the report, a 17-year-old girl was asleep at the time of the fire and was awakened by smoke. She escaped the structure uninjured. No other occupants were in the residence.
Investigators determined that the fire was caused by a propane gas leak from a valve on a line behind the kitchen range. The leaking propane was ignited by the pilot light within the range.
Damage is estimated at $30,000.
The Eldred Township and Rew Volunteer Fire Departments assisted the Otto Township Fire Department at the scene.
Police stressed in the report that this is not related to the recent explosions and related gas investigations in Bradord and Foster Townships.
