Thelma B. McKinn, 93, of Clearfield died Tuesday at the Ridgeview Elder Care Rehabilitation Center, Curwensville.
Born on Feb. 19, 1918 in Woodland, she was the daughter of the late Richard C. and Beulah (Davis) Anderson. Mrs. McKinn was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church and sang in the choir.
She held various offices in the Willing Workers Class and volunteered for the YMCA and Clearfield Senior Center. She was active in the “Young at Hearts” Square Dancing Group, and founded, along with her husband, the Keenage Kitchen Combo Band.
Mrs. McKinn worked as the Judge of Elections and served as a former Girl Scout Leader and on the PTA Council. She attended the Senior Olympic Games.
She was employed as a librarian for the Joseph and Elizabeth Shaw Public Library for 15 years. Prior to that, she worked at the Clearfield Hospital Snack Bar.
She is survived by three daughters, Judy Turner and her husband, Ronald of Olanta; Donna Test and her husband, George of Berlin, MD; and Sharon Newpher of McCungie.
Also surviving are six grandchildren, Diane Tyrrell, Earle Test, Kimberly Klucsarits, Craig Turner, Kristy Turner and Thomas Newpher; eleven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Norma Grindell of Lexington Park, MD and Janet King of Austin, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. McKinn is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Lavinn A. “Ben” McKinn, whom she married Oct. 28, 1938 and whom died on April 29, 1995; five brothers, Clair, Walter, Richard, George, Howard Anderson; and three sisters, Eunice Caldwell, Larue Ogden and Betty Brown.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home Inc. of Clearfield with Pastoral Leader Sallie Swenson officiating. Interment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Clearfield.
Friends will be received from 6 – 9 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. until the hour of services Saturday at the funeral home.
