PHILIPSBURG – The Philipsburg Revitalization Corporation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, held their annual meeting on Dec. 22, at Noon at the Gaslight Café in downtown Philipsburg.
Agenda items included a review of 2010 accomplishments and approval of the 2011 budget. In addition, the board installed new board member Walt Chorle of AllState Insurance to serve a three year term beginning January 2011.
They also elected officers for 2011. The new board member and officers will be installed at their next regular meeting. The 2011 board is Walter Swoope, President; Kristine Lang McDonald, Vice-President; Rick Kistler, Secretary/Treasurer; Karen Blair, Board Member; Walt Chorle, Board Member, Paul Springer, Board Member; John Streno, Board Member, and Fred Grauch, Board Member.
The Main Street Program is a national comprehensive approach to downtown revitalization. The program is operated in Philipsburg by the Philipsburg Revitalization Corporation. The Main Street Approach looks at downtown revitalization through the eyes of four standing committees: Organization, Design, Economic Restructuring, and Promotion. The Main Street Program is administered nationally by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, and in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania by the Pennsylvania Downtown Center. The Philipsburg Revitalization Corporation is a member of both of these organizations. Each member of the Board of Directors of the Philipsburg Revitalization Corporation, and the Main Street Manager have been trained in the Main Street Approach by the Pennsylvania Downtown Center.
