– A child passenger safety seat checkpoint will be held from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at the Clearfield Fire Department on East Cherry Street. Members of the Pennsylvania State Police, Troop C, not only will be checking, but also helping with the installation of child passenger seats. There isn’t a fee for the check. Anyone with questions about their child seat is encouraged to attend the event.
– Police reported an incident of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and a hit and run accident at approximately 4 a.m. Thursday on Carrs Hill in Pike Township, Clearfield County. A 20-year-old Clearfield man was traveling east, when he lost control of his vehicle for unknown reasons.
His vehicle traveled onto Dairy Lane, off the roadway through a private yard and struck a stump. His vehicle then overturned one time off a dirt embankment, coming to a rest on all four wheels in the eastbound lane of Carrs Hill. The man then fled the scene on foot prior to police arrival.
After investigation, the man was located at his residence and was taken via ambulance to the Clearfield Hospital. He was treated for “unknown injuries” that were the result of the accident.
He had taken the vehicle without the permission of its owner. Charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and several summary traffic citations are to be filed against him through the district court.
Police were assisted at the scene by the Curwensville Volunteer Fire Company, Hyde Volunteer Fire Company, the Lawrence Township Police Department, Clearfield Ambulance and Ross Towing and Recovery.
