Dorothy B. Longe, 72 of Karthaus, PA, passed away Sept. 6, 2010 at the Altoona Regional Medical Center in Altoona, PA.
Born on Aug. 18, 1938 in Grassflat, PA, she was the daughter of Paul Leroy “Roy” and Pearl A. (Glace) Shomo.
Mrs. Longe was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Goshen United Methodist Church and a life time member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Grantville, PA.
Mrs. Longe was an avid bingo player and enjoyed her trips to Atlantic City and Las Vegas. She was devoted to her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She treasured her time that she spent with her family and friends.
Mrs. Longe is survived by her husband, Thomas F. Longe, whom she married on May 2, 1959 in Winchester, VA; three children: Bernice A. “Bernie” Showden and her husband Robert of Goshen, PA, Mary G. Brown and her husband Arvard “Cork” Brown of Campbelltown, PA, and Kevin T. Longe of Karthaus; five grandchildren: Joseph B. Longe, Brandy S. Hoover and her husband Scott, Jason Fraude, Brandon A. Longe, and Arvard M. Brown, Jr.; two great-grandchildren: Lincoln O. Hoover and Alexandria Fraude Schaffer; seven brothers and sisters: Lola Hardin of Murfeesboro, TN, Carl Shomo and his wife Patricia of Surveyor, PA, June Juran and her husband John of Palmyra, PA, Joyce Valencia of Clearfield, PA, Betty Wing of Clearfield, PA, Helen Taylor and her husband Barry of Bergen, NY, Linda Ardary of Clearfield, PA and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Cloyde Glace, Paul Shomo, Phillip Shomo and Lynn Pierre Shomo.
A memorial service will be held on Sept. 18 at 11:00 a.m. at the Goshen United Methodist Church, with Pastor Sue Arnold officiating.
Friends will be received in the church from 10:00 AM until the hour of services.
