Philipsburg Man Charged in Woodland Cross Burning

WOODLAND – A Philipsburg man faces charges in connection with burning two wooden crosses in a yard in Woodland.

Ryan Mark Held, 19, faces charges of ethnic intimidation, arson, recklessly endangering another person, criminal mischief and harassment.

According to a prior report, on Aug. 21 at 12:20 a.m., an 18-year-old Woodland female and a 16-year-old black male discovered two wooden crosses burning in the front yard of the residence. Police said both stood approximately 2-feet high. No further information was provided in the report.

The state police in Clearfield said in a report that he was arrested on Tuesday. Held was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Patrick N. Ford and released on $5,000 unsecured bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 1.
