Clearfield Little League 9-10 All-stars Breeze Past Mountain Top 16-0 in Opener

CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield Little League 9-10 All-Stars passed their first District 5 Northern Tier test with flying colors Saturday evening, scoring 10 runs in their first at-bat and trimmed Mountain Top 16-0 in four innings at McNamee Field.
 
Three Clearfield pitchers teamed up for a two-hitter with eight strikeouts.
 
Winner Dan Collins fanned four and allowed one hit and one walk in two innings. Jake Sorbera and Mike Ternoway followed him to the mound to complete the shutout.
 
Noah Rumsky’s three-run triple was the big blow in the first-inning outburst.
 
Collins had a perfect night at the plate with three hits, including a double and a triple, with two RBIs.
 
Sorbera drove in three runs with a single and a double.
 
Reese Wilson tripled and had three RBIs.
 
Clearfield advances to the quarterfinals against Four-Leaf Clover at Bigler Monday at 6 p.m.
