Buster’s Fastpitch Tournament Team Ready to Begin Season

CLEARFIELD — The Buster’s Class C fastpitch tournament team will begin their 2010 season on Saturday with their annual trip to the Burgettstown tourney.

Buster’s will try to better their second place finish from last year.

The high point of the 2009 season was Buster’s third place finish at the Class C state championships in Drifton. They look to improve on that placing and then participate in the national tournament in Kentucky over Labor Day weekend.

Buster’s will host their annual tournament at Bucky Strunk field in Clearfield on June 11, 12, and 13 with several local teams among the  already seven teams commited to participating.

Regular season action in the Old Town Softball League (OTSL) will begin at the end of May.

Local players on the travel team from the OTSL include – Brian Barr, Brandon Billotte, Travis Henry, Bob Culp, Chris Peacock, Donnie Shimmel, Andy Squires, Rich Stewart, Todd Stiner, Steve Terry, Brent Thomas, and Thomas Yeager.

Returning 2009 team offensive leaders include – Terry (35 hits, .432 batting average, 6 doubles, 3 triples), Squires (3 home runs, 20 RBIs), and Thomas (24 runs scored).

The leading pitchers from 2009 were “ringers” from out of town who will all be returning this year.
