Clearfield’s Elementary Schools Earn Keystone Awards

Superintendent Richard C. Makin announced the Clearfield Area School District’s four elementary schools had been recognized by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. He said they received the Keystone Awards, as they earned Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) for two consecutive years in 2007-08 and 2008-09.

They presented five Clearfield Elementary School students with an award prior to Monday night’s committee meetings. In the front, Cody Shaw, 9, and Mackenzie Rowles, 10, hold the award. In the back, from left to right, are Cameron Thomas, 9; Barrett Kline, 8; Clearfield Elementary School Principal James Quick, Jr.; and Laney Hudson, 8.

Afterward, Quick said the five students were very active at the elementary school. He said they all should be credited for the school’s academic achievements.
