CLEARFIELD – Area residents wanting to stock up on good reading for the coming winter months will have a great time at the coming book sale at the Clearfield Arts Studio Theatre. The sale will be held at the CAST Building, 112 E. Locust Street in downtown Clearfield on Oct. 9 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Oct. 10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
We’re going through thousands of wonderful books, sorting and organizing so everything is in great shape for everyone when they attend the sale, said Ruth Loffredi, CAST executive director. “If someone is looking for a particular kind of book we want them to be able to find it easily and those people who like to browse and take their time selecting books will have a wonderful time doing that.
“We have countless fiction, both paperback and hardcover, including many best sellers. And there are many books on politics, religion, history, self improvement, nature, travel, cookbooks, health, home improvement and children’s books. And the autobiographies are wonderful. The public has been so generous with their donations of books,” she continued. Every day for the past seven months we’ve had books dropped off for our sale. I can’t think of a single subject that we don’t have books on.”
CAST held their first book sale in March of this year after the University Women had decided they were no longer going to have their annual book sale. “They did an amazing sale every year,” said Loffredi. “That was their thing and we weren’t about to infringe on it.” But once they made that announcement, it was the perfect opportunity for CAST who immediately announced they would begin holding an annual or semi annual book sale. Right away people began giving their books to CAST and that generosity continues.
With a few exceptions, prices will mostly be 50 cents for paperbacks and $1.00 to $3.00 for hardcover. The sale will be held in the blue room and those attending should use the side door.
“We’re having a good time getting ready for it,” said Loffredi. “For all those people who enjoy good books, this is going to be a great place to find them.”
