Clearfield Borough Council OKs Purchase of Two Additional Tasers for PD

CLEARFIELD – On Thursday Clearfield Borough Police Chief Jeff Rhone requested that council approve the purchase of two more tasers.

Rhone said the there is $2,000 in the budget for equipment. Rhone said that officers in the PD recommended using that money to purchase two additional tasers. They would cost about $1,700. He added that training would be done in-house.

The chief said that while all four tasers would not be in use at one time, they could cycle through them. He also added that it would be nice to have extra in case one went offline.

“I just want to make sure you feel that’s the best use of that equipment money,” asked Susan Reed, council member.

Rhone indicated he felt it was.

Mayor Patty Gilliland said she supported the purchase as well.

Council voted and approved the chief’s request. Council gave the ok for the chief to purchase two tasers in September.
