Indian Valley Warriors (1-1) at Clearfield Bisons (1-1)

The streak started in 2005, one that many Bison fans may be unaware.  The Bisons started a streak of three straight come behind wins against Indian Valley.

With a little over two minutes remaining and fourth and 18 from their own 30 yard line, Bison quarterback Andrew Janocko dropped back to pass and through a jump ball for wide receiver/running back Curtis Campman.  Campman came down with the catch and first down. Seven plays later Janocko capped of the drive with the game winning touchdown.

In 2006, once again trailing by a score with just over two minutes remaining, Andrew Janocko instrumented another game winning drive. This time wide receiver Adam Jury was his target on a huge third down conversion to keep the game alive.  Running back Isaiah Morgan provided the game winning touchdown on a five yard run.

In 2007 the Bisons traveled to Indian Valley to take on the undefeated, state ranked Warriors.  Yet again the Bisons managed to pull one out on the final drive with two minutes remaining in the game.  This time quarter back Jarrin Campman connected with wide receiver David Ryan on a crucial third down, before throwing the game winning touchdown to Drew Hipps.

The Bisons hope this time they can knockout Indian Valley fast and early with their balanced offensive attack.  Clearfield is led by senior quarterback Jarrin Campman, who through the first two games has continued to put up monster numbers dating back to last season.  On the year he has completed 33 of his 53 passes for 460 yards with 2 touchdown and 2 interceptions.  He is also the team\’s leading rusher with 37 carries for 138 yards and 3 touchdowns.  Senior running back Isaiah Morgan has shown when he’s healthy he’s also a force to be reckoned with, averaging over 5 yards a carry and a touchdown.

The biggest question for the Bisons entering the season was at the wide receiver position, but Trey Campman and Brandon Sass have come up huge through the first two contests.  The youngest of the Campman Clan has caught 17 balls for 196 yards and a touchdown, while Sass has caught 3 balls for 106 yards and a touchdown.  Sophomores Derek Danver and Derek Morgan have also produced solid numbers.  Danver is second on the team in catches with 7 for 100 yards, while the younger Morgan brother filling in for his injured brother last week averaged nearly six yards a carry in the second half.

On the opposing side of the ball, the Indian Valley Warriors are led by quarterback Jacob Stroehecker who has completed 12 of 22 passes for 3 touchdowns, while also rushing twice for 1 touchdown.  Strohecker’s favorite target has been Cody Battista who has hauled in 5 catches for 73 yards and 2 touchdowns out of the backfield.  The Warrior backfield is led by the trio of Nikolas Myers, Mitch Fultz, and Battista.  Fultz and Battista are both averaging well over five yards a carry, and Myers and Fultz both have rushing touchdowns on the year.

This should be an interesting game if the past holds true again Friday night as kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at the Clearfield Bisons Sports Complex.
