CURWENSVILLE – The weather continues to frustrate area scholastic teams, and the Clearfield and Curwensville now have a combined seven games to make up after Monday rains forced postponement of their backyard scrap, which would have been the opener for both squads.
Curwensville athletic director and head softball coach Allen Leigey now has three games to reschedule. The defending District 9 and PIAA Class A champion Lady Tide\’s other postponements were against Ridgway, Sheffield and Brockway. The Sheffield game has been moved to May 3.
In addition to booking a new date for Monday\’s game, Clearfield athletic director Jon Mikesell has to work in contests with Brookville and St. Marys for coach Bob Dixon\’s Lady Bisons.
Clearfield is scheduled to travel to DuBois (0-0) Wednesday and host Bellefonte (1-1) Friday. The Lady Beavers were the Districts 9-10 Class AAAA sub-regional winner and lost to eventual state runner-up Latrobe, while the Lady Red Raiders were District 6 Class AAA titlists and lost to eventual PIAA champion Susquehannock.
If the Weatherman cooperates, Curwensville will play at DuBois Central Catholic Wednesday and then begin defense of its Moshannon Valley League crown Friday at home against West Branch.
