CLEARFIELD – Educational leaders, construction companies, and business organizations in our region have come together to organize the inaugural 2008 Building and Construction Trade Career Showcase. Coordinators of the event say they’ll offer valuable information and resources for individuals in all areas of Building and Construction Trades.
Anyone who seeks a job in the construction industry will find possible employers at the show. Likewise, many companies will be there hoping to fill positions.
“It’s a chance for us to mingle and meet with potential employees,” said owner of 765-DECK, Benjamin Timko.
Shawn Evans of PA CareerLink agreed. He said, “There’s never been a collaboration of this magnitude when it comes to serving the people Of Clearfield County. This showcase will benefit anyone seeking a career in the field of Building and Construction.”
However, the magnitude of this event is no mistake, according to Penn State DuBois Continuing Education Representative, Jeannine Hanes. She said an event focused on construction trades is a perfect fit for this area.
“We looked at the industry cluster in the Clearfield area and there’s a great deal of construction businesses, and we thought it would be beneficial to narrow an exposition down to fit this industry,” Hanes said.
The Do-it-Yourselfer will find plenty of useful information at the Showcase as well. Construction companies, along with students from the Clearfield County Career and Technology Center will provide tips, demonstrations, and seminars on remodeling and construction techniques.
“Even homeowners will have something to look forward to with the spring home improvement season quickly approaching,” Evans said.
Timko ads, “It’s a great opportunity for us to showcase our business to potential customers.”
The Building and Construction Trade Career Showcase will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on both Friday April 4, and Saturday April 5, in the Expo I Building at the Clearfield County Fairgrounds. Admission is free and everyone is welcome.
