CURWENSVILLE – Curwensville Borough Police warn area residents of a telephone scam.
According to the report, someone has called an area resident to sell medical cards. He kept the resident on the phone for several minutes and eventually persuaded them to provide checking account information. The caller stressed he didn’t require any further information to process the medical card.
Due to concern, the resident closed the account, but there had already been a $399 wire transfer.
The Curwensville Borough Police advise people not to provide any personal or account information to avoid being a victim of theft.
