CLEARFIELD – Clearfield Hospital and Adagio Health hope to raise awareness about the importance of breast self-examination, also known as BSE, during a free community program scheduled for Feb. 26, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in Clearfield Hospital’s Administrative Conference Room.
“Breast self-examination is an important way to find breast cancer early, when there are more treatment choices and a better chance of recovery. Educating women about this life-saving technique is a priority for us,” stated Darlene Rowles, imaging supervisor for Clearfield Hospital.
The presentation will focus on proper technique, when to perform a BSE and how to tell the difference between a lump and normal breast tissue. Risk factors will also be discussed.
Joan Kroell, certified registered nurse practitioner and a registered nurse certified in women’s health, is the guest speaker. She earned her registered nursing degree from Spencer Hospital School of Nursing, and then earned certification from the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing in Philadelphia as a nurse practitioner, specializing in obstetrics, gynecology and women’s health.
Kroell has worked for Adagio Health of Clearfield for the past 16 years, taking care of women of all ages, and has been involved with the Healthy Women Program from its beginning 12 years ago.
The public is invited to attend. For more information, please contact Darlene Rowles at 768-2033.
