Bellefonte–Clearfield used a strong second half fueled by Jarrin Campman, Drew Hipps, and Nate Greenland to run away with a 65-46 victory against the Bellefonte Red Raiders.
In the first quarter the Bisons came out flat, playing much like they did in the second half against DuBois in their last game. The Bisons made some costly turnovers in consecutive trips down court and found them selves in an eight point hole as the period drew to an end.
\”We didn\’t come out playing well offensively tonight. We missed some open shots and had a lot of unforced turnovers,\” said Head Coach Forrest Campman
In the second period the Bisons were able to get some spark from the bench as sophomore Trey Campman came in and hit a three pointer that lead to three straight threes by Matt Shiner and Parker Herrington. Clearfield used this spark to head into halftime with a 25-24.
\”Trey gave us a great spark tonight, and we needed that with David Ryan being unable to play due to sickness. Nate Greenland also gave us a big jump off the bench tonight to score six points and grab some rebounds,\” said Campman on the play of his bench.
In the third quarter Jarrin Campman decided to take the game into his own hands. Campman came out playing on fire hitting four three pointers in the period and having scored 14 of his team high 17 points in the quarter. The hot shooting helped the Bisons pull ahead and lead by 18 at the end of the quarter.
\”Jarrin had a tough first half as he was called for a bunch of travels, but he was still able to get some rebounds. He came out hot though in the second half and we needed that because Matt (Shiner) just was having a tough night getting his shots to fall. Everyone played better in the second half; it may have been our best half as a team this year,\” commented Campman.
In the fourth period the Bisons were able to maintain their lead with Parker Herrington, Nate Greenland, and Todd Hryn chipping in. When the buzzer sounded the Bisons came out on top with a 65-46 victory.
\”Todd and Drew both came out playing well in the second half too. They both probably had double digits in scoring and rebounding. Like I said before we just played a great second half as a team,\” said Campman.
The Bisons will be back in action in their final league game Monday night when they travel to Bradford to take on the Owls in what could be a preview of the match up for the District Title.
