CLEARFIELD – New and reelected members of Clearfield Borough Council were sworn in Monday night by Clearfield Borough Mayor Patty Gilliland.
Jim Leitzinger, president of council last year, was elected by council to run in the same capacity this year. Rodger Baumgardner was also nominated for the position by newly elected council member Fred Wisor. Baumgardner received one vote, while Leitzinger received five.
Members were not permitted to vote for themselves.
John Naddeo was nominated for the position of vice-president and won unanimously, while Susan Reed won unanimously for the position of president pro tem.
Wisor consistently questioned or remarked about appointments to positions that Pam Peters, borough secretary and administrative assistant was named to. Wisor indicated that he felt that the duties Peters was being appointed to belonged to the borough operations manager.
At one point Wisor asked for the minutes of a 2002 meeting when he questioned when the borough appointed an administrative assistant, a position that Peters was appointed to Monday night.
Committees assignments were also handed out by Leitzinger on Monday evening.
Each committee and its members are as follows:
Public Works: Rodger Baumgardner, chairperson; John Naddeo, vice chair; Kathy Catherman and Larry Mack.
Planning and Community Development: John Naddeo, chairperson; Kathy Catherman, vice chair; Larry Mack and Rodger Baumgardner.
