Sons of the American Legion, Clearfield Cycle Club Team Up to Provide Free Christmas Eve Meals to Area Residents

CLEARFIELD – For over 10 years, the Clearfield Cycle Club and the Sons of the American Legion have donated their time and energy to provide free Christmas Eve meals to area residents.

The meals are made possible through donations of food items such as hams, turkeys fixings. Some of the donators for this year included JG Food Warehouse, Wal-Mart, CNB, the Sons of Italy, the VFW, the Vietnam Veterans, and Palumbo’s among others, as well as private donations.

The two groups offer delivery service as well as an eat-in experience at the Clearfield American Legion, John Lewis Shade Post.

This year, around 300 delivery orders were taken. Perry Behling of the Sons of the American Legion estimated that the clubs will do over 500 meals altogether.

Last year, with the public’s support, the club was able to serve over 400 meals to people in the Clearfield-Curwensville area.

The two organizations will team up again in July for their annual toy run, Christmas in July.
