Osceola Mills Man Arrested After Thursday Incident

OSCEOLA MILLS – An Osceola Mills man was arrested after allegedly breaking into a woman’s home and threatening her life.

State police in Philipsburg reported that James Clair VanValkenburg, 46, was throwing snowballs at the woman’s home. She told him to leave and shortly afterward he reportedly kicked open a door to the basement. Police said that he pulled the telephone off of its cord and went upstairs to the woman’s bedroom.

Police said that he got on top of the woman on her bed and put his hand around her neck and threatened to kill her. The woman’s mother arrived and VanValkenburg fled the scene.

He was later arrested and arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Allen Sinclair. He was released on $10,000 unsecured bail with the condidtion that he was to have no contact with the woman. A preliminary hearing is pending.
