CLEARFIELD COUNTY – Sunday’s rain and ice caused a number of local power outages Sunday.
According to Penelec Area Manager John Shimko, approximately 1,550 customers experienced interruptions as a result of the rain.
About 800 customers in the Morrisdale area were out for a little over five hours beginning around 4:15 p.m. Sunday. The cause of that outage was blown insulators near Munson. Crews completed repairs at 10:15 p.m. Sunday.
About 700 customers in the Grampian/Curwensville area also were out of power Sunday afternoon for about two-and-one-half hours as a result of an insulator failure causing two wires to contact.
Another 35 customers were interrupted near Houtzdale at about 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Penelec crews completed repairs there around 12:05 a.m.
