DUBOIS – The Penn State DuBois Information Sciences and Technology department and the Information Technology Club will host Video Game Day 8 from 4:00 p.m. until 11 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at the computer labs in the DEF building. Anyone interested in playing computer games may attend.
For this installment of the Video Game Day event, the venue of videogames includes popular titles such as Team Fortress 2, Call of Duty, Counter Strike Source, and many more. Also back by popular demand, the Video Game Day will hold a Halo tournament with the newly released Halo 3.
Several stations will also be set up as Local Area Network so that players may play against each other in the tournament style challenge. In total, the campus’ four IST computer labs can accommodate 100 players. Jason Long, Instructor in IST, said the event has been “hugely popular” for the DuBois area, and is one of the largest gaming opportunities in the state. Players have attended from as far away as Houtzdale, Punxsutawney and St. Marys.
Visitors during Video Game Day can get a first-hand look at the IST computer labs and other resources at Penn State DuBois and ask any questions about courses offered at the campus, Long said.
“The success stories are students who have ultimately enrolled at Penn State DuBois as a result of having attended a previous Game Day,” said Long.
