CLEARFIELD – On Wednesday the Clearfield County Recreation and Tourism Authority took to heart recommendations from Roger Brooks, a branding expert with Destination Development Inc.
Brooks spoke of the need for blade signage in front of businesses to better help travelers understand what the businesses are. These signs are right angles to streets and sidewalks. Brooks said that the signage should not only have the business’s name, but also what service it provides.
The CCRTA’s Strategic Planning Committee recommended that the tourism authority make the sole focus of their matching funds grants for signage improvement. The CCRTA board agreed.
Sandy Fink Barrett, director of the CCRTA, said that the committee will now go back and come up with guidelines for for what projects are acceptable for grant funding and what projects are not.
Grant funding from the CCRTA comes from county the county hotel tax.
