WEST DECATUR – The results of two of three recent audits were revealed at the regular monthly meeting at Boggs Township.
On Monday, the audit by Walter Hopkins and Sons arrived. The officials reminded the room that this was an audit performed in response to allegations of embezzlement. The findings read to the gathered citizens were that revenue was properly recorded and deposited within a proper time period. No related party transactions and unusual expenditures were found that warranted explaining. Wages and payroll tax expenditures appeared to be reported properly.
“So that should dispel any rumors of embezzling money from the township,” said Supervisor Bill Dickson.
Citizens expressed interest in seeing the results themselves, but it was announced that the township hasn’t received the full report yet. The officials did give their word that when everything arrived it would be open for examination by citizens of the township.
“The Auditor General of the state found all numbers added up the same, no problems,” read Dickson summarizing the 2005 audit by the state of Pennsylvania.
The only snag that the auditor general managed to find involved the digital imagery of cancled checks. The auditor had made a note that the front and backs of these checks should have been scanned. Dickson began to explain that this was a fault on the end of CNB Banks, but was notified by Boggs Township Secretary Denise Dobo that CNB had already begun doing this prior to the meeting. This had also been noted in a 2003 audit, and the township has 60 days to notify this finding has been remedied.
