Clearfield Legion Fall Baseball Has 1-3 Weekend

BELLEFONTE – Isaac Butler pitched a three-hitter, Aaron Sayers drove in four runs and Justin Hoffman added three RBIs at the Clearfield American Legion Post 6 fall baseball team defeated Moshannon Valley 14-0 in five innings to salvage a split in Sunday afternoon\’s double-header.
 
Earlier, Clearfield was beaten 12-1 by Bellefonte.
 
Butler struck out nine en route to his shutout that set Clearfield\’s record at 2-5.
 
Sayers, who doubled twice, and Butler each had three hits, while Hoffman singled twice and Matt Lonjin doubled.
 
Clearfield managed only two hits, one a double by Butler, against two Bellefonte hurlers.
 
On Saturday, manager Sid Lansberry\’s club dropped a twinbill to DuBois at the Lawrence Township Recreation Park diamond.
 
A four-run first inning keyed the visitors\’ 6-4 victory in the opener. Loser Michael Moyer settled down to limit them to three hits over the last five innings. He struck out seven.
 
Moyer drove in all of Clearfield\’s runs with three singles.
 
In the nightcap, winner Nate Sabados and John Hartzfeld combined for a two-hit shutout as DuBois won 10-0.
 
Clearfield will visit DuBois for an 11 a.m. double-header Saturday and entertain Altoona in a 1 p.m. twinbill Sunday.
