PHILIPSBURG – Contractors on the Philipsburg streetscape enhancement and sewer/storm water separation project told Main Street officials they are scheduled to begin paving on Front Street in Philipsburg next week.
Beginning Monday, Front Street will be closed from Locust to Presqueisle Street as contractors prepare the street for paving and complete the paving work. Weather permitting, the work should be complete and the street re-opened by Sept. 18.
There will be pedestrian access to all businesses, with the sidewalks open from each of the side streets including: Locust, Spruce, Pine, and Laurel Please park on the side streets and walk to your downtown destination. Parking and traffic patterns which were put into place in June remain in effect; Pine Street is two-way from Centre Street to Front Street with parking on the south side only. Spruce Street is also open to two-way traffic from Centre Street to Front Street with parking on the North side only.
Those traveling to a downtown destination call the business ahead of time to inquire about the best way to access their building. Please continue to support our local merchants over the next few months as the construction nears completion.
