CLEARFIELD – With at least two projects preparing to begin construction in Clearfield Borough soon, it appears the Middle Department Inspection Agency of Wexford will be the borough’s commercial building inspector.
MDIA’s contract with the borough expired Saturday, and negotiations with the company have settled on a new proposed contract of 90 days with a 90-day notice provision to allow for re-negotiation, according to Solicitor F. Cortez “Chip” Bell III.
The new contract does not include the $3-per-inspection increase that was presented to the borough council last week.
The borough is prepping to be home to BioEnergy International LLC’s ethanol production facility at the Clearfield Technology Park and a new Rite-Aid Pharmacy near Bridge Street.
If the borough had not contracted with an inspection firm, the state would have completed the compliance checks, resulting in lost funding for the borough.
