Curwensville To Play Mount Union in State Teener 15-16 Tourney Opener

CURWENSVILLE – Area V champion Mount Union will be Area VI runner-up Curwensville\’s opponent Thursday when the 2007 Pennsylvania VFW Teener 15-and-16 Baseball Tournament gets under way at Bellwood.

For fans traveling to the tourney, the two fields being used for the eight-team, double-elimination tourney are located on the left of Route 220 approximately one-half mile south of DelGrosso\’s Amusement Park.

Curwensville\’s game is booked for 3 p.m.

Other opening round action will pit Area VI champion Philipsburg-Osceola against Area II champ Schuylkill East at 12:30 p.m., Area IV runner-up Hollidaysburg against Area II runner-up Schuylkill North at 10 a.m. and Area III champ Dillsburg Senior National against host Altoona at 5:30 p.m.

Curwensville, which split its four games in the Area VI Tournament, will play Hollidaysburg or Schuylkill North on Friday. The losers of those two games will meet at 11 a.m., while the winners will play at 3 p.m. The Curwensville All-Stars could play a second game Friday, pending the outcomes of their first two games.

The state tourney continues through Sunday, with the championship game set for 11 a.m. If another game is necessary, it will follow at 2 p.m.
