COUDERSPORT – State College defeated West End of Williamsport 7-3 in the championship game of the Babe Ruth District 8 Tournament for 13-15-year-olds Sunday afternoon at the Coudersport Area Rec Park Field.
The champs, who had defeated Clearfield 9-4 in the tourney opener Friday, advanced to the title game with a 9-1 victory over host Potter-McKean Saturday evening.
West End, nipped 5-4 in 8 innings by Potter/McKean in its first game, came back to eliminate Clearfield (7-2), Quadco (8-3) and Potter/McKean (11-5) before losing in the finals.
State College moves on to the state tourney which begins Thursday at Milroy.
Final District 8 records: State College 3-0, West End 3-2, Potter/McKean 2-2, Clearfield 0-2, Quadco 0-2.
