CLEARFIELD – At the request of the Clearfield-based state police, PennDOT District 2 placed a radar-controlled speed display sign along state Route 253 Thursday. The speed display sign will remain on location for about two weeks and will register the speed of vehicles traveling on SR 253 in Fallen Timber near the Cambria County line.
The speed display sign uses radar and determines the speed of oncoming traffic. Those vehicle speeds are then posted on the lighted section of the speed display sign. Above the speed display is another sign showing the posted speed limit for that section of SR 253.
The Pennsylvania State Police will be monitoring the section of SR 253 where the speed display sign is located.
