Suspect Sought in Early-Morning Assault

STATE COLLEGE – A State College resident reported that someone unknown to her entered her apartment in the area of Pugh Street and McCormick Avenue at approximately 6:15 a.m. Wednesday. The victim was treated for injuries at Mount Nittany Medical Center and has been listed in stable condition.

The suspect is described as a white, college-aged male, between 5 feet, 6 inches tall and 5 feet, 8 inches tall with a slender build, wire-rimmed glasses, and some facial hair on his chin. At the time of the assault, the suspect was wearing a dark-colored ball cap, backwards; a gray T-shirt; a black, long-sleeved, waist-length jacket; long, denim shorts with the label “Wear” on the pocket strap; and grey and dark blue tennis shoes.

“This type of violent crime is very rare in this community,” said Steve Shelow, director of Penn State Police. “We are doing everything we can to assist the State College Borough Police, and urge anyone with any information to contact them.”
