MILESBURG – The Clearfield Little League 11-and-12 All-Stars managed seven hits but stranded seven runners and fell 5-1 to Milesburg in a District 5 Northern Tier elimination game Tuesday evening.
Clearfield\’s run came in the fourth inning when Tyler Woomer singled, Mason Root doubled and Dalton Cole hit a sacrifice fly.
Tanner Ogden had two singles for Clearfield, which left the bases loaded in one inning and stranded two runners in two other innings to bow out of the tourney at 0-2.
Woomer was the losing pitcher, allowing five hits and four runs, three of them earned, in five innings. He struck out eight and walked three. Root gave up a solo home run to Dennis Fisher in the sixth.
Dylan Womer was the winner, striking out and walking two in five innings. Fisher held Clearfield hitless in the sixth.
Milesburg (2-1) will host Mountain Top (2-1), a 4-2 winner over Tri-County (0-2), in the elimination bracket semifinal Thursday.
Philipsburg (2-0) will play Four-Leaf Clover (2-0) at Woodland in the winner\’s bracket final Thursday.
