Reward Offered for Statue Vandal, Police ask Residents to be Vigilant During Festival

FALLS CREEK – With St. Bernard’s Festival coming up this weekend, DuBois-based state police are asking residents to be vigilant for suspicious activity on St. Bernard’s during the overnight hours.

Earlier in the month the Sacred Heart Statue was destroyed at St. Bernard’s. The statue was five feet of solid Italian marble, valued at $30,000. Damaged was estimated at $25,000.

The investigation will continue pending the processing of evidence. A $2,500 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest in the case. Anyone with information can contact police at 371-4652.
